FIBA Suspends Former Ohio Player After Failed Drug Test Said He Was Pregnant

Pretty tough to appeal that one.

Odds are before today you probably best recognized the name D.J. Cooper from the line, “Who in the hell is D.J. Cooper? Is that the guy who jumped out of the plane with all that money?”

Well, now you’ll probably recognize Cooper as that one dude who was pretty good when he played college basketball at Ohio University and then failed a drug test while playing ball in Europe after said test revealed that he was…wait for it…knocked up. From the crew at Total Pro Sports:

The un-drafted player out of Ohio in 2013 submitted urine for a drug test and was handed a two-year suspension from FIBA for failing, not because of performance enhancing drugs or recreational drugs, but because the test revealed that he was pregnant. The test on the urine that Cooper provided revealed the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG, which is a hormone made by the placenta during pregnancy. That urine belonged to his girlfriend, who likely did not know she was pregnant and Cooper found out before she did.

FIBA suspended Cooper for fraud. He’s eligible to return on June 20, 2020.

Hot damn! The only way this could possibly get any juicier is if Cooper wound up not being the real father. Or if he really was pregnant, I guess.

Let’s hope for his sake he gets his hands on some better piss next time around…
