Just A Friendly Reminder To The Clippers Announcers Than Robert ‘Tractor’ Traylor Is Dead

by Tommy Gimler

“Who’s he play for now?”

Well, that answer would be nobody since he no longer has a pulse.

Normally we wouldn’t be covering a Clippers-Mavericks regular season game unless a dwarf dunked during the halftime show, but thanks to Clippers announcers Ralph Lawler and Don MacLean making fun of a dead guy on live TV, we’re going to make an exception.

During the Clippers’ 121-112 victory last night, Lawler and MacLean brought up the fact that Dirk Nowitzki wound up on the Mavericks courtesy of one of the worst trades in sports history when Milwaukee dealt him and another player for former Michigan star Robert “Tractor” Traylor. In an effort to be humorous, Lawler asked, “Who’s he play for now?”

“The Detroit YMCA Over-40 league,” MacLean joked.

“Hahahahaha,” laughed Lawler.

But why wasn’t that exchange a good example of a funny one? Yup, you guessed it – Traylor died of a heart attack eight years ago, so he’s not playing for anybody anymore (although that might change if his surviving family members decide to take him to the South African minister below).

No word if Lawler and MacLean plan on doubling down with a Reggie Lewis joke during Wednesday night’s Clippers-Jazz broadcast…
