The Truth!

Atlanta Hawks v Washington Wizards - Game Three

by Andy Ostroff

If you didn’t think it was going in when Paul Pierce got the ball at the end of Game 3 of the Wizards-Hawks series you probably haven’t been paying attention since 1998.

That’s why he’s “The Truth.”

According to answers.com, Paul Pierce has 20 game-winning shots in his career. Now, it’s at least 21, and it could even be more because answers.com may have received that entry four years ago. I don’t know. And since it’s answers.com, it could also be total bullshit. But I’m a big Celtics fan, so I know the number has got to be up there.

Let’s just say that in the NBA today, in a situation like the end of Game 3, I’m pretty sure that “P squared” would be the player I’d want to take that shot.

And while we are on this topic, let’s just talk about how much better his reaction was than that of Derrick Rose the night before. Rose almost looked embarrassed that his shot went in off the backboard, like somebody was going to make fun of him for it. But Pierce didn’t care. In his post game interview, Chris Broussard asked the thought provoking question, “Did you call bank?” To which Pierce replied, “I called GAME!”

He then proceeded to walk away before Broussard could ask another one.

Like! A! Boss…
