SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE THE FOOTHILLS OF VEGAS by Barry Murphy
Another year of NFL O/U’s are upon us, and the excitement is palpable. First off, though, I must start by saying that the numbers I’m working with are off my book’s site… and you can get significantly different odds in Vegas.
In looking at this year best bets in the AFC, several jumped out at me… and as usual, we start with the “gimmes”. Man, the Raiders are in for a long year. Not only did they loose their best offensive player, Jared Veldheer (Left Tackle) – they’re now starting Terrelle Pryor at QB. Now on my site, you have to pay -200 for the under of 5.5 wins. If I was going to Vegas, I’d shop for an O/U of 6, and take the push if it happened because -200 is steep. Luckily, I put this one in 2 weeks ago at -155.
As I prepare to give you a barrage of UNDERS, I must acknowledge the “Salvy.” A fantastic term a fellow player gave me when you’re under-to-over ratios is at least 2:1. For me, it’s 5 UNDERS and 2 OVERS.
Next, the UNDER on the Steelers, at 9.5… again, you gotta pay for it, -155. A really shotty O-Line, mixed with an average defense and a weak receiving core. Plus, the Ravens are no where near as bad as people were thinking. Even TPitt has this one.
Chargers UNDER 7.5 at -150. I believe in their new coach straightening this thing out, but not this year.
J.E.T.S. UNDER 6.5 at -155. QB disaster… Holmes is out… Scott is gone… a complete mess.
BUFFALO UNDER 6.5 at -155. Another QB disaster.
DENVER OVER 11.5 at -110. The Miller suspension hurts… but between this awful division and the 3rd easiest schedule, the passing machine should be just fine.
CINCY OVER 8.5 at -150. I can’t believe I’m on this play… but they’re solid everywhere.
I’ve got an NFC OVER/UNDER podcast coming next… then a Fantasy Football podcast with some solid trivia for you.
Good luck fellow degenerates!!
