Here’s A List Of Every Player Who Had A Higher Batting Average Than Chone Figgins In 2012

Here’s a story that got lost in the shuffle, and it’s probably because it’s about Chone Figgins.

The Seattle Mariners designated Chone Figgins for assignment Tuesday night, finally conceding that his 4-year, $36 million contract was almost as bad of an idea as Rock of Ages.

Figgins told SportsPressNW.com in October that he wanted out of Seattle. Let’s begin by breaking that down for a second. Was every other major publication and website in the Pacific Northwest not interested in this story so much so that a only a site with less than 2,000 more Facebook likes than The DUD broke the story? Pathetic.

Well, Figgins got his wish, as he was so brutal in Seattle that the Mariners were willing to eat $8 million just to get him the fuck out of Dodge.

Just two more things here, as we’ve already spent too much time on such a dog shit baseball player.

First, here are Figgins’ stats in 2009, his final year as an Angel followed by his stats for his three years as a member of the Mariners:

2009 (LAA): .298 average, .395 OBP, 7 triples, 5 home runs, 114 runs, 54 RBI, 101 walks, 42 stolen bases ($5.8 million salary)

2010-12 (SEA): .227 average, .302 OBP, 5 triples, 4 home runs, 104 runs, 61 RBI, 114 walks, 57 stolen bases ($36 million salary)

Second, Figgins hit .181 in 2012. Here’s a list of everybody who was better than that, all 608 of them:
